Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad: Teatime with Jenny Seelye on the Smoky Valley Limited
Details
Back at the turn of the last century, as A.B. Seelye built his monolithic mansion on north Buckeye Avenue, his wife, Jenny Taylor Seelye, had visions of parties and other high society events in her new, lavish home. Mrs. Seelye often hosted teas for her social acquaintances, featuring finger sandwiches, scrumptious desserts made by the mansion chefs, and fine tea…. As a special tribute to A.B. and Jenny Seelye, the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad invites you to a special version of the Smoky Valley Limited for “Teatime with Jenny Seelye.” Abilene baker Amanda Collins is recreating four popular dessert recipes that would have been served in the mansion, along with finger sandwiches and classic XXX tea. Our two-hour train ride through the Smoky Hill River Valley includes narration about the Seelye legacy.
